Meet Delores Pluto

Yoga Instructor

Delores found yoga in the 1970’s through Richard Hittleman’s classic Yoga: A 28-Day Exercise Plan. Never having been good at PE or sports, this simple approach kept drawing her back to yoga practice. She finally attended her first class in the 1990’s with Deb Joyous in Colorado Springs. This ignited a life-long love of yoga and desire to learn more. It was in Colorado Springs where she was certified in the Daystar Method of Yoga with Susan Flanders and Deb Joyous in 1994, and she has been teaching ever since. She has continued her studies with Joseph LaPage (Integral Yoga Therapy), Lilias Folan (Yoga Gets Better with Age), Dr. Kadan Kataria (Laughter Yoga), Anna Jelly (Curvy Yoga), Kristine Kaoverii Weber (Subtle Yoga), Jivana Heyman (Accessible Yoga), and Ellen Saltensall (Yoga for Bone Health), among others. Delores also has a PhD in public health and a graduate certificate in gerontology from the University of South Carolina.

The common thread that Delores has taken from all these experiences is a commitment to teaching and practicing yoga with attention to the sensations of the breath, the body, and the mind. Because her classes use a slow, mindful approach that honors each person’s unique body and experience at the present moment, they are appropriate to beginners and experienced adults of all ages.
